I like the idea of mixing between fast and slow music throughout the entire thing.
I wish some of the areas were transitioned a little more into the slow and fast, some of the transitions were a little abrupt and unexpected -- I think I'd enjoy it more if their was a little better transitions.
I thought this piece was very nice. I just read Kevin's comment and I disagree with him on your transitions. I thought that overall your transitions were very nice, but I actually wish there were even more abrupt transitions instead. But I think you did a great job!
The classical sounds were something unexpected. At first I was getting ready to listen to a techno song, then the fast break transition from the electronic beat to the classical sounding music totally changes the feel and direction of the mix. I liked it more the second time around, because I could really listen to it and take in all the different effects and sounds. Instead of just try to keep up.
I found it very interesting how you used the upbeat, high energy latin styled music and the lover toned more forlorn violin music. I enjoyed how it seemed as though the upbeat music was trying to break through the sadness of the violin music. I did feel that some of your transitions needed a little work and could have been a little more smooth though.
At the beginning, I thought some of the transitions were a little rough, but in the middle, I think the mix work was really strong. I liked the fade in and out of the faster music. A good deal of the cuts were really, really seamless. About 3/4 of the way down, I really liked what was happening in my ears. It would have been nice to have some kind of resolution in the music at the ending.
This shifted me from one melody to the next kind of suddenly, and then went from up-beat to sad kind of quickly as well. Then that sad feeling was interrupted with the festive music. The song seemed kind of bipolar. Then the violin and festive music harmonized for a moment, and then threw you around again. The transitions in this were great. I really liked it. I think this piece showed that the artist was really wanting to use sound as a media to take people through emotions, which other media cant as well. I could tell that she used this media to control when and what she wanted her audience to FEEL. This is different from the other pieces and shows more depth of thought.
